It’s every traveler’s dream to visit the islands of Santorini and Mykonos . A ferry ride makes it possible to joggle a low budget and meet fellow travelers along the way.

Santorini or Thira?

When traveling by ferry in Greece we should remember that we are looking for connections between two ports and in many cases the name of the port doesn’t match the name of the island (as we know it in English). So when you need to look for connections to Santorini, look for Thira (Santorini) or the port code ATI.

How long does it take to get from Santorini to Mykonos?

The journey between Santorini and Mykonos takes 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Is there a high speed ferry between Santorini and Mykonos ?

Not exactly , but the ferry connecting the islands only takes 2 hours and 35 min.

How much does it cost to get from Santorini to Mykonos by ferry?

The ticket prices depend on the class you are choosing. An economy seat class costs €38,00 per person, while an business class seat costs €57,00 per person.

How many ferries per day depart from Santorini to Mynonos during the low season?

The ferries run between Santorini and Mykonos until mid-October (Oct 11). Until April, there aren’t any ferries between the islands. However, starting with April there’s a ferry departing Santorini to Mykonos at 11:50 a.m. daily, with the exception of Wednesdays.

How many ferries per day depart from Santorini to Mykonos during the high season?

The high season runs between June and October and the following ferries are available:

  • at 11:50 a.m., daily (until Oct 11; after that date it doesn’t run on Wed); might not show up on online booking sites!
  • at 12:15 p.m., daily except on Tue (stops running on Sept 9)
  • at 12:20 p.m., daily (stops running on Sept 6)
  • at 12:45 p.m., on Mon, Fri and Sun until Sept 13; on Wed only on Sept 9


Are there any overnight journeys between Santorini and Mykonos?

No.

Where can I buy tickets from?

You can purchase the tickets online (with certain restrictions like couple of weeks up to 2 months before departure) or via a travel agency. Of course, you can buy the tickets directly from the port and unless you plan to travel during the high season you don’t need to worry about booking in advance.

Does everyone charge the same prices?

The prices are the same, no matter if you book online, via travel agency or buy them directly from the port.

How about the ferries from Mykonos to Santorini ?

During the high season, the following ferries are available between the islands:

  • at 9:40 a.m., daily (until Sept 6, after that date it doesn’t run on Wed)
  • at 2:45 p.m., daily except on Wed (stops running on Sept 28)
  • at 2:45 p.m., on Wed, only on Sept 9 and Sept 23
  • at 3:30 p.m., Mon, Fri, Sun until Sept 13 and Wed on Sept 9 only


Important note:

It is always advisable to double check the schedule couple of weeks (or days) before departure as the schedule is submitted to the Ministry of Mercantile Marine every Friday so, in some cases, there can be some changes from week to week, let alone from month to month.
