The Ios to Santorini ferry schedule is available at the bottom of the article.

Santorini‘s sunrises are hard to get tired of — but if you’re ready for a change of scenery, Ios is just a short ferry ride away. Think charming hilltop village, legendary nightlife, and some of the best beaches in the Cyclades.

The ferry is the only way to get there, and honestly, it’s half the fun — open water, warm sun, and a mix of fellow travelers and locals all heading to the same little island.

Santorini or Thira?

When you look up the ferries between two islands, you are actually looking for ferries between two ports. And in some cases, the name of the island isn’t the same as the name of the port. Santorini makes no exception, so look for Thira (Santorini) or the port code ATI.

How long does it take to get from Santorini to Ios?

The ferry ride takes between 45 minutes and 1 h 25 minutes.

Is there a high-speed ferry between Santorini and Ios?

Yes, there are several ferries which only take 45 min to connect the two islands.

How much does it cost to get from Santorini to Ios by ferry?

Where can I buy tickets from?

There are several ways to get tickets: online, from the ferry companies’ website and from Greek travel agencies. However, the simplest way is to get the tickets directly from the port. Do remember that if you plan to travel during the high season (July & August), make sure to buy the tickets several days in advance.

Does everyone charge the same prices?

Yes, the prices are the same regardless of where you buy the tickets from.

However, when you book online, service fees may apply based on the country you book from. And if you choose to get the tickets delivered via courier, you’ll pay the shipping fee (you can choose to pick them up in the port).

Important note:

Please note that the ferry companies submit their schedules every Friday to the Ministry of Mercantile Marine and in some cases, the schedules for July & August become available on online booking sites only several days before the vessels start operating on that route. Your best bet is to check this link the day before departure (or the day of before) just to make sure things haven’t changed.

  1. Hi, will it be possible to get a ferry from Santorini to Ios on 6th June, 2011 for 2 PASSENGERS. Please let me know when the time-table will be available.
    Thank you.
    Eilish Lernihan

  2. Hi, will it be possible to get a hydrofoil from Ios to Santorini on Saturday 23rd July 2011 for 2 people. I need the earliest departure.

    Thank you.
    Michelle

  3. @Michelle : I found the only departure at 10:35 a.m. As the high season approaches it might be possible to have more options. Anyway, you cannot book the ticket online now (typically it’s possible 2 months b4 the departure).

  4. Hello, we need to travel from Ios to Santorini on Fri 28th June 2013. Based on your timetable, this is not possible and I have not been able to find an availability anywhere. Would you know if this is possible? Thank you.

  5. @Linda: unfortunately on Jun 28 there isn’t a ferry between Ios and Santorini. There should be one on Sat Jun 29 but the schedule is not yet approved.

  6. Hi Cristina, will be traveling to the Greek islands in August of 2013. Seems all the ferry schedules are only partial at this point. When do they typically confirm the summer ferry schedules? Thanks.

  7. @Jason: you are right. They are partial and some of the routes aren’t confirmed yet. Technically by mid-April things should be pretty “stable” in terms of schedules. But i recommend to book abt 2 months before departure (you cannot book earlier online anyway) and that’s when the schedule is definitely fixed.

  8. It appears that in July there are daily ferries from Ios to Santorini but when going to the online site it says there are non available on 20th July or any day around that week. Please advise if there is a ferry going from Ios to Santorini on the 20th July. thanks. Ruth

    • @Ruth: there is a ferry on Jul 20 at 11:30 a.m. and the schedule is “approved” so should show in booking engines. There’s another one at 12:10 p.m. but the schedule is not yet approved. Also, it’s not always possible to book more than 2 months in advance so you’d probably see the ferry on booking site starting in May.

    • @Lou: Jun 17, 2013 Thira – Ios there should be one departing at 12:10 p.m. but the schedule is “not officially approved yet” so it won’t show up in booking engines yet.
