Most important airports in Greece:

AthensElefthérios Venizélos International Airport (ATH) is the country’s largest and busiest airport. It is located 33 km (20 mi) from the city center, to which it’s connected by bus, train and metro. If you arrive from abroad you’ll most likely land here, then continue to an island via a domestic flight (unless you fly during the summer and choose a charter flight into the islands).

Heraklion International Airport (HER) is the main airport on Crete and the second busiest airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic. It is located just 5 km from the city of Heraklion. Most flights arriving here a seasonal; year-round flights are available from major cities in Europe, as well as other Greek cities.

Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG) is located about 16 km from the city center. It is the largest state-owned airport in the country and third busiest in terms of passenger traffic. It serves Thessaloniki, as well as Halkidiki, the famous tourist destination. It receives flights from Europe.

Rhodes International Airport (RHO) is also known as Diagoras International Airport. It is located 15 km from the capital city of the island of Rhodes. It is the fourth busiest airport in Greece in terms of passenger traffic. Most flights arriving here are seasonal; year-round flights are available from European cities and other Greek cities.

Corfu International Airport (CFU) receives both scheduled and charter flights from European cities. It is located about 3 km from Corfu town. Most flights arriving here are seasonal; year-round flights are available from Athens and Thessaloniki.
