Ferries from Athens (Rafina) to Mykonos (and return) [Updated 2026)

728x90

The Mykonos to Rafina ferry schedule is available at the bottom of the article.

Rafina doesn’t get nearly as much attention as Piraeus, but if you’re exploring the eastern coast of Attica, it’s the smarter departure point — closer, less chaotic, and with solid connections to the Cyclades. It’s the second largest port in Attica, and once you’ve used it, you’ll wonder why you ever bothered with the trek to Athens in the first place.

Mykonos is one of the most popular destinations you can reach directly from Rafina — and one of the best arguments for using this port. Glamorous, iconic, and endlessly photographed, it needs little introduction.

In this article you’ll find ferry schedules, journey times, ticket prices, and everything else you need to plan the crossing.

Are there any overnight journeys between Rafina and Mykonos?

No.

Where can I buy tickets from?

125x125If you prefer to arrange all your travel bookings online, then you should be pleased to find out you can book your ticket ferry online as well, at most two months prior to departure.

You can also book via a travel agent but they’ll have to use a Greek travel agency anyway so you are better off buying through one yourself.

Or you can buy the tickets directly in the port. If you are not traveling during the weekend right in the middle of the high season you don’t need to worry much about booking in advance.

Does everyone charge the same prices?

The sites where you can book your ticket promise you will be paying the same price as if you were buying from the port. Even if there’s a difference, it’s not significant.

Important note:

Since the ferry companies update their schedule weekly, there might be some inaccurate information on line. However, it’s not the site’s fault at all. Once you arrive in Greece make sure to get a copy of the Athens News (newspaper in English, which publishes the ferry schedule each Friday) or ask for information in the port.

Where should you stay?

Rafina is a small port town rather than a tourist destination, so accommodation options are limited — but if you’re overnighting before an early ferry, the hotels and guesthouses around the port and the main square are perfectly comfortable and convenient. It’s a pleasant enough place to spend a night, with a decent waterfront restaurant scene to keep you busy before you board.

Mykonos Town — Chora — is the natural base, and the most practical one if you’re arriving by ferry. You’re close to everything: the waterfront, the restaurants, the famous narrow streets, and the nightlife. For something quieter, the areas around Ornos and Agios Ioannis on the south coast offer a more relaxed stay without completely stepping away from the action. If budget isn’t a concern, the clifftop hotels around Psarou Beach are where Mykonos does luxury properly — and the views make a convincing case.
