Thessaloniki is currently connected by ferry with a variety of destinations, including the Dodecanese Islands.

Kos is the third largest island of the Dodecanese but is more laid-back than Rhodes . It ranks high among local travelers (4th position) and is one of the most loved Greek islands. The mild climate which blesses the island year round and the incredible beaches have made Kos an important travel destination, especially for Europeans.

How long does it take to get from Thessaloniki to Kos?

It takes about 21 hours to get from Thessaloniki to Kos on a regular ferry.

Is there a high speed ferry between Thessaloniki and Kos?

No.

How much does it cost to get from Thessaloniki to Kos by ferry?

An economy class seat costs €47 per person, one way, while an airplane type of seat costs €51 per person, one way. A bed in a 2 berth cabin outside costs €100 per person, one way.

Special offers are available on the company’s website , including the price of €20 for an economy seat to all Dodecanese Islands (with several restrictions). Children up to 4 years old travel for free and children between 4 and 10 years old get a 50% discount.

How many ferries per day depart from Thessaloniki to Kos during the low season?

The ferry stop running by the end of September but they resume the normal schedule in spring. The low season schedule is not yet available.

How many ferries per day depart from Thessaloniki to Kos during the high season?

There’s a single ferry connecting Thessaloniki to Kos during the high season. It departs on Friday at 8 p.m. and runs until September 25.

Are there any overnight journeys between Thessaloniki and Kos?

Yes, the only ferry is an overnight ferry.

Where can I buy tickets from?

Tickets can be bought from the online booking engines, from the travel agents, from the ferry company’s website, as well as from the port.

If you want to benefit from the special offers, the only way to do that is by booking the tickets on the company’s website (note: the booking process works only on Internet Explorer browser).

Does everyone charge the same prices?

The prices should be the same regardless of where you purchase the ticket from (except for the special offers available only on the company’s website).

How about the ferries from Kos to Thessaloniki?

There’s only one ferry connecting Kos to Thessaloniki during the high season. It departs on Thursday at 8:45 p.m. and runs until September 24.

Important note:

The ferry companies submit their schedule weekly to the Ministry of Mercantile Marine so make sure to double check the schedule especially if you are using the online booking engines.
