The first thing to do when planning a trip is setting a budget. While the flight and accommodation will represent the bulk of your travel budget to Greece, other expenses will add up in no time. In general, Greece is not an expensive destination, but we are all happy to be able to save some money when choosing to do free things during the vacation.

If you are a history buff, then Athens is an excellent choice for you. And, you won’t break the budget either. There are several museums which can be visited for free, including the War Museum. Don’t forget to watch the changing of the guards in front of the Parliament building.

Art lovers will find Thessaloniki a good choice when it comes to visit galleries for free. You can also take a walk in the Old Town or check out the Modiano Market.

Those planning a romantic escape should know that although Santorini is not a cheap destination, there are some interesting things to do here for free: watch the sunset at Amoudi Bay, walk on the red sand of Red Beach or take some long walks along the pathways with superb views of the sea and volcano.
