At BootsnAll they’ve just published an interesting article full of useful tips on how to save money while you travel in Europe.
If you live in the States, earn your salary in US$ or just live outside the Euro-zone, it’s pretty clear by now that a vacation in Europe is not exactly affordable this year. The Euro started to climb rapidly and right now it’s perched at $1.56. It’s hard even to remember when the Euro was less than a dollar.
Obviously this is troublesome for everyone out there who already planned their Europe vacation. But don’t worry: you don’t need to move to a camping site (unless you want to, obviously). The article I mentioned above is filled with useful tips to save money while in Europe, so that means Greece as well.
For those of you who have traveled a lot or are just budget travelers by nature the tips will be pretty familiar. One of my favorite tip – and which I emphasize as well when I talk about accommodation in Greece- is looking into the private rooms in hostels. You’ll be surprised to find miniature hotels where you can stay for an affordable price. Also, learn to use the public transport. You don’t need to get a room right smack in the middle of the town, but as long as you are near a bus/metro station and you’ve got a map, you don’t need to worry.
Check out BootsnAll’s 11 tips to stretch our weak dollar in Europe article and hopefully it will help everyone save some euros while still enjoying a great vacation.
