Review: Ios seen through my iPhone

Note: Although I have the book , I asked the author Lambsios to write some words about the photos and why she collected them.

Memories of a small Greek island

Travelling is one of the great pleasures of life. Visiting new places and experiencing the various ways people live opens up our eyes to a different world. But what do you remember about your travels? Do you only remember the famous sight-seeing spots or do little personal memories colour your thoughts? For my part, although I might stand in awe in front of the Acropolis or Big Ben, my fondest memories are of the little things that delighted me at the time – the smell of orange trees in blossom in the Peloponnese, crabs scurrying across a Sri Lankan beach at full moon, a beautiful sunset, nooks and crannies of a town…

Ios seen through my iPhone shows you a side of a small Greek island in the Cyclades that a conventional guide doesn’t depict. It is a very personal account of why the author loves Ios and the way she views the island through the device she always has with her and enjoys using – her iPhone. Do not expect only realistic photos. Do not even expect expert photography. The photos in this book are all taken with an iPhone and many have been altered by filters and various iPhone apps to create an artistic picture of Ios.
This book will appeal to those who have already visited the island and fallen in love with the beauty of Ios and also to those who plan to visit the Cyclades. If you haven’t yet thought about travelling in this region, this book might persuade you to visit and discover the magic for yourselves.

Lambsios, the author, is an artist and writer who spends half of the year on Ios. When not enjoying life on a beach or chatting with friends over coffee, she wanders around the island stopping to look, take photos and edit them with her iPhone. Her love of the island she discovered when she was younger comes through in her pictures and in what she writes.

If you want to purchase the book, get it from here.

All photos by Lambsios and may not be used without permission.
