Random Greece Photo of the Week

Delphi was once considered by the ancient Greeks to be the centre of the world. Legend is that Zeus sent out 2 eagles from the ends of the earth to fly across the world at the same speed, and where they met was determined to be the navel – that place was Delphi. Delphi was also home to the most famous oracle in all of Greece: the oracle would inhale fumes that would send her into a trance so that she could serve as a medium for the Greek god Apollo and deliver prophecies that could send armies to war, or break up relationships! Delphi is a fantastic day trip destination from Athens and you can marvel at the Temple of Apollo, the Tholos at the Temple of Athena, the Ancient Theatre and the Pythian Games Stadium among other stunning historic sites. Around the corner from the ancient site of Delphi is the Archaeology Museum, where you will find treasures and artifacts unearthed during the excavations at Delphi.
