Places to eat in Thessaloniki

But when it comes to choosing a place to eat, things get complicated. In any large city, such as Thessaloniki , there are plenty of restaurants, tavernas and ouzeri to choose from. But which one should you choose?

Here is a list of some of the best places to eat in Thessaloniki (rated by travelers). Most of the restaurants listed have mid-range prices.

Myrsini

Address: Tsopela 2 SE

If you love Cretan cuisine but haven’t made your way to Crete yet, this is the place to try. They serve horta (wild greens), mizithropitakia (filo with sweet cheese) and a variety of roast meats. You also get a chance to listen to bouzouki music while you are here.

Ouzerie Melathron

Address: Karypi 21 City Centre

This street-side ouzarie is traditional in the Northern part of Greece. It offers a wide variety of ouzo and Greek wine. Meze include keftedes, grilled octopus and saganaka (fried cheese).

Hatzis

This deserts dedicated place has been in operation since the Ottomans ruled the country. Since 1908 they opened 6 more deserts places and stores. Once you taste the baklava here, you won’t want it every other way. Other deserts you should try include a variety of pastries and creams.

Zythos

Address: Ladadika

It is the first restaurant to open in the restored warehouse district. The wood and brick décor makes it popular with many types of clientele. Vegetarians will love it here because usually, out of the two daily specials, one is vegetarian. Make sure to try saganaki. They also have a branch, Dore Zythos, located close to the White Tower.

Kitchen Bar

Address: Port City Centre, Warehouse B

This place is all about the views. When the weather allows you can stay on the terrace and see beautiful sites of the city. There is no reservation policy and the service tends to be a little slow. But the food is good (and a bit pricy). Try the salads and the cakes.
