One Euro Store

Store in AthensWith the exchange rate acting like this, the One Euro Stores in Greece might just by exactly what you need in case you forgot something at home or was seized at airport security.

I know… most of the posh travelers would avoid these stores at all costs. Before you decide to call me nuts, let me assure you that there is nothing wrong with buying items from the One Euro Stores, the European Union version of the “99 cent store”. Seriously! You will find them in any major Greek city and in some remote locations as well.

Obviously they aren’t the place to look for long-lasting merchandise and souvenirs –although you might just find some olive-oil soap to take home - , but they are the perfect place to get the toiletries you forgot at home or that army knife you know you can’t just take in the plane with you. Got the idea?

Among other items you will also find the European extension cords and other stuff you need to make your laptop charge in Europe. You can also find multiple outlets to help you charge everything at once and trust me, this is a life savior item if you happen to stay in one of those rooms which has only one outlet (try to fight with your spouse when you both need to charge the laptop, camera and mobile phones at once…it’s a charm!)

Let’s see what else you can find here. Cheap lingerie is also available and is a savior when you happen to forget something at home. Not to mention it would save you a lot of time roaming in big department stores.

Bottom line? These cheap stores can be life saviors especially since we try to pack light (and usually do forget something!) so don’t hesitate to check them out. No one will point fingers at you for doing that and your wallet will sure give you a big “thank you”.

Would have been nice if someone actually posted the address to the euro store or where to find one

@Jenny: this type of stores don’t last much in a location. So you just need to ask around (at the hotel, restaurant, etc) to find the closest one :)
