You can choose among the numerous neighborhood in Athens, each unique for the traveler. Doesn’t matter if you choose to stay in the northern part of the city or in the southern suburbs there will be lovely places to explore and a lot of fun stuff to do.
Plaka and Psirri are two of the most popular neighborhoods among travelers. Plaka, also known as “Anafiotika”, is located within walking distance of the Acropolis. Since Plaka is right near the city center, the access to the area is very easy. Undoubtedly, it’s one of the most beautiful areas in the entire capital, with great architecture. Most of the buildings date back to the 19th century and in order to preserve the feel, there are strict constructions/renovations laws. Psirri is the neighborhood to stay in if you look for chic yet cheap hotels. The area is part of the historical center of the capital and is filled with cafes, clubs, restaurants and hotels.
Evripides Hotel, a 2 stars hotel, is located right in the center of Athens, in the Psirri neighborhood and within walking distance of Plaka and Monastiraki neighborhoods. It’s located right near the metro station so it offers easy access to the entire capital. The Acropolis is at about 10 min walking distance. For the 2008 season, during the high season –March 16 to Oct 31- a single room costs €46/night. The air conditioning is on request.
Pan Hotel, a 3 stars hotel located in Syntagma square, is ideal for the leisure travelers, offering a really friendly atmosphere. Athens’ main sites are easily accessible. Ermou Street, the main shopping street in Athens, is nearby. The facilities include TV and internet access, as well as complimentary breakfast and air conditioning. For the 2008 season, during the high season, a single room costs €73/night.
Electra hotel, a superior first class hotel, offers the perfect combination of luxury hotel and traditional Greek atmosphere. It’s located on the pedestrian Ermou street, near Syntagma square. The lovely conference room is perfect for any events, be them training sessions or a wedding reception. The facilities include air conditioning, sound proof windows, TV, data port as well as an electronic safe box in the room. The hotel offers special prices as part of their summer sale, from Jul 1 to Aug 31, when a single room costs €123/night.
