Hotels in Athens for your Christmas Holiday

Booking.com

christmas-tree-athensWhile Christmas is not the most important Greek Orthodox holiday, it’s a lovely time to spend a vacation in Greece, particularly if you are interested in exploring the cultural part of the country.

In 2011, Christmas falls on a Sunday. If you want to spend the holidays on the Greek mainland, consider arriving on Thursday (December 22) and leaving on Tuesday (December 27). This allows for enough time to visit the most important sights in Athens and even take a day trip to Mycenae , Patras or Delphi.

Regardless of when you visit Athens , you should consider choosing a hotel close to both the historical sites and the public transport (metro stations). This ensures you have quick access to/from the airport and the port (should you want to visit some of the near-by islands) and you are within walking distance of the Acropolis and other important sites.

Here is a list of affordable hotels in Athens (under €60 per night) you can choose for you Christmas Holiday.
