Hostels near the Acropolis of Athens

The majority of travelers want to combine the affordable prices with a good location. And staying close to the Acropolis is a great choice as you get access to both the incredible historical sites and to the public transport system.

Here are some hostels near the Acropolis that you might want to consider for your next vacation in Athens.

Athens Backpackers

Address: 12 Makri St.

For those who prefer to travel in groups and for families, Athens Backpackers is a great choice. There are 3- 4 bed rooms with ensuite bathroom but also 6 bed dorms with shared bathroom. The linen, towels and breakfast are included in the room price. All rooms have AC and there’s wi-fi access as well. Guests can use the kitchen and socialize in the common room.

Considering the location, Athens Backpackers offers good prices. During the high season (July & August) expect to pay €28 per person in a 3 bed mixed dorm with ensuite bathroom.


Students & Travellers Inn

Address: 16 Kydathineon

Undauntedly, the Students & Travellers Inn is one of the best located hostels in Athens. It is also the first hostel ever to be open in Greece (1977). It’s right near the Acropolis and offers access to metro stations.

All rooms have AC and free wi-fi. Breakfast is not included in the room price but the linen and the towels are. There are both private rooms and dorms to choose from. The private rooms are a good choice for the couples needing privacy.

As it happens with all accommodation, you are always paying for the location. Compared to the other hostels in the area, the Students & Travellers Inn is a bit expensive, with prices during the high season (July & August) around €40 per person per night in a double room with ensuite bathroom.

Athenstyle Hostel

Address: Agias Theklas 10

Athenstyle Hostel offers direct view of the Acropolis and easy access to the public transport system. The historic building has been renovated recently to offer modern facilities for the guests.

You can choose between doubles, triples and quads. Breakfast, linen and towels are included in the room price. All rooms have AC and ensuite bathroom. There’s wi-fi in the lobby, a kitchen the guests can use and a lovely common area with pool tables.

Compared to the other hostels in the area, this one is quite expensive but the breakfast is included so at least you don’t need to worry about paying for one of the meals. During the high season (July & August) expect to pay €46 per person per night in a double room.


Hostel Zeus

Address: 27 Sofokleous St.

Hostel Zeus is conveniently located close to the City Hall and the market. It’s also close to the metro and to the historical sites, including the Acropolis (about 5 min from the hostel)

You can choose between single, double, triple and quad rooms, both with ensuite bathroom and with shared bathroom. Some rooms offer AC. The towels and linen are included in the room price. There’s free wi-fi internet access in the lobby.

During the high season (July & August) expect to pay €20 per person per night in a double room with shared bathroom.


Athens Easy Hostel

Address: 26, Satovriandou St.

Athens Easy Hostel is located right near Omonia Square, offering access to the public transport system and to all the important sites in the capital.

The hostel has been recently renovated. The room prices include the breakfast, linen, towel and AC. There’s free wi-fi in the lobby. There are double, triple and quad rooms to choose from.

During the high season (July & August) expect to pay €30 per person per night in double room with ensuite bathroom.

Athens House Hostel

Address: 4, Aristotelous St.

Located close to Omonia Square (150 m), Athens House Hostel is a good option if you want to have quick access to the transport system. If you want to sacrifice the location a bit for the price, this hostel is a great option. The Acropolis is less than 1 km away and can easily be reached on foot.

The hostel has been recently renovated (2006) and offers big rooms (3 beds or 4 beds). Linen and blankets are included in the room price. Internet access is free (in the lobby) and there’s a kitchen which can be used to prepare your meals. It is a good option if you like to walk and explore the area on your own.

During the high season (July & August) expect to pay €13 per person per night in a 3 bed private room with shared bathroom.
