Women and Packing light for Greece

LuggageLast summer I managed to pack only one backpack for two persons (me and my husband) for 5 days in a European capital. And yes, there were plenty of clothes for us.

Considering the new fees for the luggage and the fact that it’s absolutely horrible to drag many suitcases all over the places, packing light becomes pretty much a necessity.

Do and Don’t of packing light

Make sure to write a list with everything you might need: from underwear to chargers and everything in between.

Nude Beach in Crete: Red Beach, Matala

The Red Beach in Matala is known as the most famous nude beach in Crete. Although the official nude section is in the northern part of the beach, no one stops nude bathers from staying anywhere on the beach.

How to get to Red Beach

Go to Matala town. As you arrive, you’ll see Zafirias hotel on your left hand side. Right after the hotel, take a left turn and follow the road. Keep going when the asphalt finishes.

There’s another way to get to Red Beach, but you can easily miss the signposts. When you get to the town as for the easier (or alternative) way to get to the beach. You’ll have to pass by couple of bars and an old house to get to the road that goes over the hills.

Parnassos National Park

For those who love nature, an active vacation is exactly what they are looking for. Hiking and mountain biking on the beautiful trails, bird watching or skiing are only some of the activities which can be practiced within the protected areas which form the national parks.

The National Parks are protected areas due to rare indigenous flora and fauna and present special interest because of the water, atmosphere and geomorphologic formations. We can find three climates in Greece and a variety of ecosystems.

>>more information on Climate and Weather in Greece

In Greece there are 10 wooden areas which are designated as national parks. Within those parks (and outside them), there are 196 important bird areas. The first national park established in Greece was Olympus National Park, followed quickly (in the same year) by Parnassos National Park.

Paralia, Katerini & Olympic Beach

Talk to most of the Eastern European travelers who vacation in Greece and they will most likely tell you: “I stayed in Paralia Katerini”. Due to being very close to Bulgaria and Romania, the Olympian Riviera is pretty much invaded by tourists from these countries every single summer. Add the fact that the prices are very affordable and you’ve got a recipe for success.

The Olympian Riviera is quite a magical place. The entire Riviera is guarded by Mount Olympus and Pieria Mountains. Here you are bathing in the blue Aegean Sea and looking at the mountains. That’s something you won’t find everywhere. Plus, the place plays an important role in the Greek mythology and is also home to several archeological sites.
