Greece Drinks
Ouzo Cocktails
In Greece ouzo is a philosophy, a way of life. While the “traditional” drinkers won’t be caught dead mixing ouzo with anything but water, in the fancy clubs you’ll find some of the most interesting combinations.
Ouzo is a very strong drink produced in Greece and which has an anise or licorice-like flavor. Traditionally it accompanies mezedes and is served with water and/or ice.
In the clubs all over the world and, of course, in Greece you will also find ouzo in mixed drinks. Many people won’t ever consider mixing ouzo with other ingredients but you’ll be surprised at the nice combinations which can be created. Of course, it takes a very good bartender to find a perfect match but luckily for us, others have tried and now we just have to make sure we follow their recommendations. Don’t forget that the drinks will probably have different names in different clubs, but if you remember the ingredients you’ll know what to expect in terms of how strong the cocktail will be.

Santorini Wines
Santorini’s location and soil makes it a unique wine region in Greece and even in the entire world. With a history of wine production dating from the Bronze Age, no wonder that today Santorini offers some of the best wines in Greece. Enjoy them with friends, in a traditional taverna while sampling some of the Greek dishes.
Soil
After the cataclysmic volcanic eruption of 1645 BC, the entire island of Santorini was covered by lava, ash and pumice stone.

A weekend in Athens
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the writer of Greece Travel Guide is planning a vacation in…Greece. And what do we do when we plan our vacations? Research!
Athens is the birth place of civilization and one of those cities which should be visited at least once in a lifetime. With that in mind, I set out to create an itinerary for a weekend in Athens.
And my research took me to a rather interesting article: The New York Time’s 36 Hours in Athens, Greece . Poking my nose in other fellow writers’ article is not only fun (I have to check out the competition, right?) but also very informative.

Ouzo
Have you heard of the Greek ouzo? I bet you did. More than just a Greek drink, Ouzo is a philosophy, a way of life. The best ouzo comes from Lesvos, as most café owners in Greece would admit.
What is ouzo?
Ouzo is a very strong drink, with an anise or licorice-like flavor. Ouzo always accompanies mezedes (appetizers) and you might even find it in mixed drinks.
If you don’t like strong alcohol drinks, chances are you won’t like ouzo either. But it’s worth a try, right?
