Shopping in Mykonos

The best way to fill some time is shopping. Whether you visit New York, Vienna, London or Mykonos, the best part of enjoying the culture is checking out the stores and especially the discounts. If you happen to come to Mykonos in August you’ll be pleasantly surprised to realize that you can go back home with quite a big new wardrobe for the fraction of the price you’d pay otherwise. As the discounts season draws to an end you can even find merchandise discounted up to 70%!

Opening hours

Contrary to what you probably know from big capitals where the stores close their doors at 5 or 6 pm, in Mykonos you’ll find the stores open until late at night (around 10 pm) and even until morning (1 or 2 am) during July and August. This means you don’t have to sacrifice beach time. Plus, the “afternoon siesta” is pretty much not heard of in Mykonos so don’t worry about finding the stores closed in the afternoon either.

Campsites in Greece: backpacker’s paradise

Corfu CampsiteWith the Euro getting stronger and stronger, it seems like a vacation in Greece -or anywhere in Europe for that matter - will cost you an arm and a leg. However, if you don’t care for 4 star facilities, are pretty much bored of hostels and love the nature, a campsite is the perfect choice. Prices are low, nature is close and most campsites even offer private rooms.

“The 10 best campsites in Greece” (Times Online) presents ten of the most beautiful places to camp. The list is interesting -and a good place to start searching for the best location - but there’s something missing: the most popular campsite in Greece!

So, without further comments, let’s look at some of the loveliest campsites in Greece -as per what I think (and other travelers).

Mykonos Camping

Mykonos is, in general, considered an expensive island. However, you can spend a lovely vacation here right on the beach…actually right behind Paradise Beach. There are bungalows available for renting but you can also put your own tent up. There’s a cheap restaurant which services the camp site and the supermarket is close by. Not to mention you are just minutes away from the beach.

Tips to save money on your Europe vacation in 2008

BackpackersAt BootsnAll they’ve just published an interesting article full of useful tips on how to save money while you travel in Europe.

If you live in the States, earn your salary in US$ or just live outside the Euro-zone, it’s pretty clear by now that a vacation in Europe is not exactly affordable this year. The Euro started to climb rapidly and right now it’s perched at $1.56. It’s hard even to remember when the Euro was less than a dollar.

Obviously this is troublesome for everyone out there who already planned their Europe vacation. But don’t worry: you don’t need to move to a camping site (unless you want to, obviously).
