Here’s a random photo taken in a resort on the Greek riviera and part of our Meteora and Thessaloniki set of our Greece photos page.

For those who love nature, an active vacation is exactly what they are looking for. Hiking and mountain biking on the beautiful trails, bird watching or skiing are only some of the activities which can be practiced within the protected areas which form the national parks.
The National Parks are protected areas due to rare indigenous flora and fauna and present special interest because of the water, atmosphere and geomorphologic formations. We can find three climates in Greece and a variety of ecosystems.

In Greece there are 10 wooden areas which are designated as national parks. Within those parks (and outside them), there are 196 important bird areas. The first national park established in Greece was Olympus National Park, followed quickly (in the same year) by Parnassos National Park.
Greece’s party island, Mykonos , is famous for its romantic sunsets, windmills, “Little Venice” and an incredible weather during the tourist season. It’s one of the most sought after Greek island when it comes to choosing the honeymoon destination. There are numerous beautiful hotels where you can indulge in the Greek lifestyle. But all these make Mykonos a bit expensive.
Hotel Tagoo, Mykonos
Right in the center of the Town of Mykonos, you’ll find Cavo Tagoo. Built in a traditional architecture and overlooking the Aegean Sea, the hotel is a small family owned place, just perfect for your romantic getaway. This small luxury hotel comprises a spa, a pool bar as well as beautiful restaurants. All rooms have AC, TV, bathroom, wi-fi (fee required), minibar, phone and queen or king size beds.
With the Euro getting stronger and stronger, it seems like a vacation in Greece -or anywhere in Europe for that matter - will cost you an arm and a leg. However, if you don’t care for 4 star facilities, are pretty much bored of hostels and love the nature, a campsite is the perfect choice. Prices are low, nature is close and most campsites even offer private rooms.
“The 10 best campsites in Greece” (Times Online) presents ten of the most beautiful places to camp. The list is interesting -and a good place to start searching for the best location - but there’s something missing: the most popular campsite in Greece!
So, without further comments, let’s look at some of the loveliest campsites in Greece -as per what I think (and other travelers).
Mykonos Camping
Mykonos is, in general, considered an expensive island. However, you can spend a lovely vacation here right on the beach…actually right behind Paradise Beach. There are bungalows available for renting but you can also put your own tent up. There’s a cheap restaurant which services the camp site and the supermarket is close by. Not to mention you are just minutes away from the beach.
As the summer season draws to an end many think that there’s nothing to do in Greece during winter. Let’s stop for a while and think about what Greece has to offer and doesn’t have anything to do with the summer or beaches. The archeological sites are there all the time and they are not even crowded during the winter. Greece has mountains and hence ski slopes for anyone to enjoy.
Here are my top 5 reasons why you should visit Greece during winter.
1. The weather
Especially if you live in a temperate climate, the winter weather in Greece is downright warm. Unless you head to the northern regions you won’t experience snowfall or cold. In the southern parts, temperatures can reach 70F/21C during the day which is perfect for exploring the cities or islands.
The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete is not only the home of the legendary Minotaur, but also a great location to spend a romantic vacation. Forget about the “traditional” Greek romantic escapes in Santorini or Mykonos and head to Crete for the perfect honeymoon or anniversary. Enjoy a lovely breakfast in bed, surrounded by scattered rose petals and the magnificent views of Crete.
Paradise Island Villas
A boutique villa hotel, offering 12 luxury villas, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic escape. All villas have swimming pool and garden. Rates start at €216 per night.
