Based on the data revealed by Flight Centre, Greece has come up in poll position in the “Top 10 Where To Go In 2009” list. Greece has been slowly, but steadily, grown in popularity over the years.
But this shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Greece did very well in the World Travel Awards 2008, winning awards for:
- Europe’s Leading Beach Resort
- Europe’s Leading Boutique Hotel
- Europe’s Leading Spa Resort
- Europe’s Leading Conference Resort
The main reasons for which Greece is highly prized are:
- affordable holiday
- delicious food and local wine
- cheap sailing
- beautiful beaches, including nude beaches
- scenic islands, such as the Cyclades and Dodecanese
