Good news for all of you who want to go to Greece by train: CFR (Romanian Railways) has opened again the direct route from Bucharest via Sofia to Thessaloniki.

The route is open between Jun 2 and Sep 29, 2017.

The departure on Friday:

— 12:45 pm — arrives in Thessaloniki at 6:30 am the next day; the layover time in Sofia is 1h 25 min

The return is on Sunday:

One way costs 45 euro an adult in tourist class; and only 64 eur in the sleeping wagon (3 beds; or 75 euros if there are 2 beds).

Unfortunately the website is not in English , so the only way to get this ticket is either via a Multiple Country Pass or directly at the train station or CFR agencies in Romania.
