The first heat wave of the year hit Greece yesterday and temperatures will still be high on Wednesday as well. Authorities urged the population to curb the use of electricity as the demands are too high.
Temperatures are expected to reach 41C/106 F on Wednesday. Considering that the average July temperature is 27C/81F and the maximum reaches about 31C/88F both in the mainland and the islands, we can understand why there are possible power cuts due to excess use of air conditioning.
