With the fastest ferry from Athens taking only 3 hours to get to Paros, the island can be a great weekend getaway when visiting he chaotic Greek capital.

Although this article focuses only on the ferries from Piraeus to Paros, there are also ferries departing from Rafina (and the journey is 30 min longer on the high speed ferry).

Port of Piraeus

The Port of Piraeus (or Pireas*) is large and can be rather overwhelming for the first time visitor. Make sure to allow enough time to get from the city center to the port and to find the gate (which is written on your ticket) .

All ferries to Paros (the Eastern Cyclades ) depart from Port Gate Ε7.

  1. The information you’re guving is very usefull. The only problem is that on your flight reservation
site, you’re not giving the one way trip option. I would have liked to fly to Paros, since the timing
wisth the ferries does not sjuit my conveniance, but I would have liked to go to another island by
ferry, and then return to Athens again by ferry. On your website, you’re not giving that choice.

  2. Hi Cristina,

Thank you very much for all the travel information, very useful for a novice like myself! I have a couple of questions. Firstly, I am arriving in Athens airport at 2:30am in the morning, can you tell me whether buses going to Port Piraeus run through the early morning? And can you tell me what time the metro opens?

Also, the ferries that you have listed, are they all standard ferries as opposed to high speed ferries?

Last question, can I book a return ticket if I am returning on a different day (about 7 days later) or would I need to book two singles?

I was originally going to get the internal flight, but I think I will opt for the ferry as I’m on a bit of a budget.

    Many thanks,

    Sash

  3. @Sash: glad to have helped. you can book a return ferry ticket or two singles (the price is not lower if you book return ticket); Some are high speed ferries, some are regular ones. Tell me the day when you plan to travel and i can help you wt more details.
Ref Metro in Athens: it closes at 12 a.m. and re-opens at 5 a.m. There are some buses that run during the night though.

  4. Could you please advise if there is a high speed ferry from Athens to Paros on the 5th of July and what time, as I can only find the slower ferries.
    Thank You

    • Hi Garry,
there is a ferry departing Piraeus on Friday Jul 5, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. and gets to Paros at 9:45 p.m. Cannot price it yet because it’s too far in advance.
