Classic Greece Adventure Trip Review

When you are planning your first visit to Greece it’s very difficult to create an itinerary to comprise at least the most important aspects of the Greek civilization. The Classic Greece Adventure Trip manages to combine, in a very interesting way, visits to the most important historical sites in the Peloponnese region with the magical feel of the capital and its nightlife.

Cities and sites

During only nine days you get to visit the capital, Athens , The Ancient Temple of Epidaurus (located nearby Epidavros) , the beautiful town of Nafplio (and Greece’s first capital after it achieved its independence), Sparta, Olympia – the birth place of the Olympic Games - and Delphi.

Each city and archeological site has its own magic and importance and it might seem a bit overwhelming at first to visit them all, but the schedule is well defined, allowing at least half day exploring the sites. For some though, it might feel that the pace of the trip is a bit too fast.

The biggest advantage of such trips is that you don’t have to deal with the daunting task of planning how to get from one place to another. Also, guided tours of Epidavros, Mystras, Olympia, and Ancient Delphi ruins are included in the price so you don’t have to worry about tickets either.

Eating

You will have to plan your own meals though, which in Greece is not hard at all. Tavernas pop up in every Greek town and particularly in the most-well known travel destinations. Together with your fellow travelers you can experience the real Greek cuisine tasting the mezedes – such as Tzatziki- and drinking ouzo !

Airfare

If you manage to plan your flight to Athens ahead of time you’ll most likely be able to save some money. With the new agreement between the US and EU cheaper flights are easier to find.

Prices

Unless you prefer to spend your nights in hostels or low budget hotels, there aren’t many shortcuts to lower the costs when it comes to accommodation. So the price for the trip (US$1145 plus 200 Euro, not including airfare and meals) offers a good value for money. The price does include the transport between the cities, entrance to some of the important sites, as well as the accommodation.

Conclusion

All in all, Classic Greece Adventure Trip is perfect for those who visit Greece for the first time and for those who only came to Greece for its beaches. A lot of highlight is placed on the Greek Islands leaving the mainland and the sites close to it as a “winter destination”. It’s time to change that and explore the Peloponnese when the weather is at its best. And why not, combine this trip with a sailing adventure exploring the Greek Islands.
