What to do

Alinossos is a very beautiful island. It’s home to the only Marine Park in Greece. Also, it’s one of the six ecological islands in Europe protecting the Monk seals.

Patitiri is the capital of the island. The town has been rebuilt after the earthquake of 1965 which destroyed the Old Capital.

The Old Capital is a charming little traditional Greek village, with whitewashed houses and narrow paved streets. After the earthquake of 1965 which destroyed the area, the inhabitants moved to Patitiri. The Old Capital is located at 4 km (2.48 miles) from the new capital. Being built on a hill, it offers lovely views of the Aegean Sea and the nearby island of Skopelos. Many old houses are starting to be restored by foreigners and have been transformed into restaurants, cafes or shops.

Apart from the capital, Patitiri, there are several other villages worth visiting: Alonissos Town, Steni Vala and Votsi.

Beaches

The beaches on Alonissos are really beautiful. One of the very few organized beaches on the island is Chrisi Milia, which is known to be the most beautiful beach on the island.

Agios Petros is known for the incredible views, while Glyfa is one of the hidden beaches which should be checked out if you want to escape the crowds.

Tzortzi Gialos is also hidden in a natural bay, surrounded by pine woods, a really nice location to combine sunbathing with hiking.

Nightlife

In Patitiri and Old Alonissos there are lovely tavernas, cafes and bars which cater to every need. Don’t miss the taverna called To Kamaki, which is famous for the traditional Greek cuisine. If you want to dance all night long, check out Enigma Club.
