The island of Crete is one of the most popular destinations in Greece. Famous for the Minoan sites at Knossos and Phaistos, the Venetian castle at Rethymno, the healthy cuisine, great beaches and places to practice water sports, Crete is also filled with a lot of places to stay, spread over its four prefectures.
Need to know
Before booking a room in any hotel in Greece stop to think about:
- Categories: in Greece categories aren’t exactly standard. They depend on the room size, the facilities, the location and many more. So you might find a B hotel to have fewer facilities than a C hotel (which ranks “worse” on the scale). Also you will find that boutique hotels , although having small rooms, have high prices just because they are from this category.
- Travel agencies generally book rooms “in bulk” so they can “afford” to give them to tourists at a lower price than the hotel itself. However, there are also hotels which won’t work with travel agencies and you can find great offers especially during the shoulder season (May or September).
