Plan to spend a relaxing afternoon and evening in Athens. Choose a hotel close to the Acropolis as you’ll easily get both to the sites and the metro (to get to /from the airport and to the port). Walk on the narrow streets of Plaka and enjoy a meal in a taverna. Spend the second day visiting the Acropolis.

Amorgos is an ideal romantic vacation destination if you want to be active. Put on your walking shoes and try one (or all) of the six walking trails on the island. The Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea, as it is perched on a cliff.

The next day, you can explore the beaches and try your hand at some water sports. Or you can plan a day trip from Mykonos; Delos, Paros, Sifnos, and Andros are all excellent choices as the islands are located close by and offer enough things to keep you occupied for a day.

Ios is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, so make sure you soak up the sun on one of those beaches, as well. Don’t forget to check out the Old Castle and Homer’s tomb.

And since Ios is riveling Mykonos in terms of party, make sure to enjoy the island’s nightlife.

  1. Mykonos is definitely on my list. Not as a honeymoon destination (though every trip feels like a third, fourth, fifth…. nth honeymoon!) but as a place that I can chill and relax at. Don’t know when I’m going to get a chance to see it though. My travel destination list just keeps growing!

    • We are considering it for a wedding anniversary 🙂 I wouldn’t exactly say Mykonos is a place to “relax”, that’s more like Amorgos or Ios during the low season 🙂

  2. My husband and I take really high energy trips because we love to see alot. So, this itinerary is perfect for us. The only thing I would probably prefer would be a roadtrip, but public transportation might be the way to go based on all this awesome information. 🙂

    • Thanks for your comment. This is quite packed but for someone who loves to explore a lot, it is nice. Well, on the Greek islands you are better off walking, taking a donkey…sometimes ranting a scooter than looking for public transportation :))

  3. I’ve never been to Greece, but have wanted to go for decades, and am hopefully going this summer! This is great for a beginning like me, thank you.
