June in Greece

Summer in GreeceJune marks the first summer month in Greece. The tourists start coming to the islands, all hotels and restaurants are opened, flights and ferries have a regular schedule and the festivals never end.

Weather

On the mainland it’s hot, even too hot at times. On the islands –and cost line- it’s hot but the air is cooled by breezes. Due to the meltemi, the ferries might get a bit delayed at times.

Last year saw the highest temperatures ever recorded. Unfortunately, that’s not something new since this has been a common theme all over the world. However, you should consider this when you plan your trip and avoid July and August- when the temperatures are high anyway- and choose a cooler month –like May or June. Take into account that winter months start to get warmer and warmer.

The staff in most restaurants and clubs tends to be a multinational blend of youngsters who came to Greece to earn some money and experience the culture. It’s refreshing to see that almost any European language is spoken. Obviously, English is the language of choice and a requirement when you want to apply for a seasonal job in Greece.
