A movie festival, Independence Day, carnivals and warmer weather: that’s Greece in March. Hotel prices are still low and you won’t find too many flights to the islands, but the archeological sites aren’t crowded and you can start to enjoy the nature.

Weather in March

Although March is considered the first spring month, the weather is still cold but warmer days are quite common. On mainland it’s still cold and wet, while on the islands and in the costal regions, bright and warm days are quite common.

One Euro Store

Store in AthensWith the exchange rate acting like this, the One Euro Stores in Greece might just by exactly what you need in case you forgot something at home or was seized at airport security.

I know… most of the posh travelers would avoid these stores at all costs. Before you decide to call me nuts, let me assure you that there is nothing wrong with buying items from the One Euro Stores, the European Union version of the “99 cent store”. Seriously! You will find them in any major Greek city and in some remote locations as well.

Also, the wildflowers are in bloom, while the drier islands –such as Crete- are covered with a blanket of green vegetation. It’s not warm enough to swim, but the weather is perfect for sightseeing.

Weather

The warmer days are starting to become quite common, although on mainland it’s still a bit cold. But it’s the perfect weather for sightseeing. On the islands and in the costal region, the weather is also quite cold but there will be a lot of warm days as well. The water temperature, however, is still too cold to swim in.
